Henniker, N.H. – The Thomas College Women's Lacrosse team (1-2, 0-0 NAC) came out and tallied two unanswered Megan Denby goals in the first two minutes of play against Colby – Sawyer (4-5), but it wasn't enough momentum to slow the Chargers as they went on to defeat the Terriers 20-10. Denby and fellow senior Kiley Jolicoeur both tallied four goals for the Terriers in the loss.
With Denby's two goals in the opening minutes of play the Chargers were forced to call an early timeout. Colby-Sawyer's leading scorer, junior Brittney Murphy, responded by netting two of her four goals and sophomore Laurel Bauer added her first goal of the game to give the Chargers a 3-2.
Thomas' Ceara DiBiase evened the score at three, but a Colby-Sawyer 5-0 run gave the Charger's a lead they would not relinquish. The Terriers would close the margin to three when Jolicoeur netted her first goal of the game at the 11:15 mark in the first half. Three late first half goals pushed the Colby-Sawyer lead to 17-7 at the half.
Both teams' added three goals apiece in the second half, Denby ended the scoring with a late free position goal to move the score to 20-10.
The Terriers will travel to Green Mountain (2-3, 0-1 NAC) this weekend for a 2 p.m. conference match up on Saturday.
