Portland, Maine – The Thomas College women's lacrosse team was on the road Thursday in a regional matchup against Saint Joseph's (Maine). The Monks would jump ahead early in the game to win by a score of 16-5.
The Monks' Alyssa Marchant would score the first goal of the game a minute and a half into action. Thomas would net their first goal of the game about ten minutes into the first half when Sophomore Ceara DiBiase's goal cut Saint Joe's lead to 3-1. Senior Megan Denby would score the Terriers second goal of the half with 25 seconds remaining. At the end of the first half, Thomas was behind 13-2.
In the second half, the Terriers would match the Monk's offensive attack as both teams scored three times. Senior Kiley Jolicoeur would start off the scoring in the second half with a goal five and a half minutes in. DiBiase would score another goal along with a player-up goal by First-Year player Jillian Lambert.
Sophomore goalie Teshia Cates recorded 18 saves in the loss while Haley Nason recorded nine saves for the 2-0 Monks.
The Terriers (1-1, 0-0 NAC) will have a week off and be back in action next Thursday, March 31 with a game against Colby-Sawyer at New England College in Henniker, N.H. Faceoff time for the neutral site game is set for 3:00pm.
