WBB: Chargers Pull by Terriers, 55-49

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Thomas College women's basketball team fell to Colby-Sawyer 55-49 in their first game of the new year on Saturday afternoon.

Thomas received 14 points on 7-of-12 shooting from Malorie Weaver (Palermo, Maine). Kaylee Ravagli (Lowell, Mass.) contributed 11 points, six rebounds and four assists, while Addie Brinkman (Farmington, Maine) added eight points and a team-best eight boards.

The Chargers held an early 6-4 lead before Thomas used a 10-0 run, with six points from Ravagli, to go in front 14-6 with four minutes left in the frame and led 18-11 after one. Thomas was able to hold the lead through much of the second before a late basket by Colby-Sawyer tied it 27-27 at the half.

Thomas came out of the break with a 9-0 run, but the Chargers responded with a 9-0 run of their own to tie it 36-36 with five to go. The teams traded buckets through the final minutes of the frame and Thomas took a 42-41 lead into the fourth.

Colby-Sawyer scored the first eight points of the fourth to take a 49-42 lead and never looked back. Thomas came within three points with less than two minutes to play, but the Chargers held them off for the 55-49 win.

The Terriers will resume North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play on Friday, January 10 when they visit Northern Vermont University-Johnson at 5:30 PM.
