ORONO, Maine – The Thomas College women's basketball team fell to Wheaton 64-48 in the second day of the Maine Maritime Academy Tournament on Sunday afternoon.
The Lyons came out strong defensively in the first quarter, holding the Terriers to two points as they held a 14-2 advantage going into the second. Wheaton continued to build their lead through the remainder of the half, going into the break up 31-11.
The Thomas offense started to warm up late in the third quarter, but the Lyons held a 48-26 lead going into the fourth. Thomas outscored Wheaton 22-16 in the fourth quarter, with Malorie Weaver (Palermo, Maine) scoring ten points in the period, but the Lyon came away with the 64-48 win.
Thomas will play in a tournament hosted by UMaine-Farmington next weekend, taking on USM at 5:30 PM on Friday, November 15.
