WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College women's basketball team fell to Maine Marime Academy 59-39 on Saturday afternoon in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game at Larry Mahaney Gym.
The teams stayed neck-and-neck in the opening quarter, with the Terriers taking a 16-14 edge after the opening 10. MMA slowly took command, holding a 25-21 lead with under four to go in the half. The Mariners rallied off seven points from there to take a 32-21 lead into the intermission.
The Mariners kept up their stingy defense in the third, outscoring Thomas 17-4 in the period to take a 49-25 lead into the fourth. The Terriers outscored MMA 14-10 in the final period, but the Mariner lead was too great as they moved on to the 59-39 victory.
Prior to the game, senior guard Molly Carroll (Southwest Harbor, Maine) and senior student assistant coach Annie Young (Camden, Maine) were honored.
The Terriers will host their regular season finale against UMaine-Farmington on Tuesday, February 12 at 7:30 PM.
