Terriers End Skid in Win over Green Mountain on Senior Day, 69-55

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College women's basketball team snapped a seven-game skid with a 69-55 victory over Green Mountain on Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play.

The Terriers improve to 9-14 (6-10 NAC) while the Eagles drop to 5-18 (1-16 NAC).

Before the game, seniors Jordan Turner (Casco, Maine), Sammie Griffin (Union, Maine), Abby Nielsen (North Yarmouth, Maine), Amira Jones (Chicopee, Mass.), and Jordan Agger (Saco, Maine) were recognized for their contributions to the women's basketball program.

The Terriers stormed out to an early 20-7 lead in the opening frame behind four shots from three.  Griffin knocked down a pair of threes to lead the Terriers along with five points from Nielsen. The Eagles struggled from the floor on 2-of-17 shooting as Riley Lane chipped in with four points.

Thomas extended their lead throughout the second quarter for a 43-21 advantage at the half.  Freshman Nikki Bradstreet (Topsham, Maine) came off the bench to record eight points to pace the Terriers.

In the third, the Eagles looked to chip away at the deficit as they outscored the Terriers 20-17.  Sharena Armstrong tallied ten points including a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line.

Throughout the final frame, Green Mountain brought the deficit down 14 points as they once again outscored the Terriers 14-9 to finish at 69-55.

Nielsen finished with a team-high 11 points for the Terriers along with four rebounds, and two assists.  Barnes and Malorie Weaver (Palermo, Maine) each recorded 10 points in the win while Weaver neared a double-double with nine rebounds.  Jones contributed with seven points and 14 rebounds.

Armstrong held a game-high 18 points along with five boards in the effort for Green Mountain.  Rideout and Taylor Hill each reached double figures with 14 points and 11 points respectively.

The Terriers will hit the road on Wednesday as they travel to Maine Maritime Academy for a 5:30 p.m. matchup.
