Terriers Slip Up in Second Half at Johnson, 70-65

JOHNSON, Vermont – The Thomas College women's basketball team allowed an early lead slip away in a 70-65 loss on the road at Johnson on Friday night in North Atlantic Conference action.

The Badgers improve to 3-16 (2-11 NAC) on the season while the Terriers move to 8-12 (5-8 NAC).

The teams were tied 9-9 six minutes into the game, before Thomas closed the quarter on a 7-0 run to take a 16-9 lead into the second.

The Terriers held control in the second, pushing their lead to 13 late in the quarter. Jocelyn Pellerin hit a late three to put the Badgers within 10, going into the break down 39-29.

Johnson went on a 19-9 run though the first eight and a half minutes of the half to pull the game even at 48. Two made free throws by Lindsey LaPerle late in the quarter put Johnson up 50-48 going into the fourth.

The Badgers opened the period on a 9-2 run to take control, 59-50. Johnson held off a late push by Thomas to hold on to the 70-65 victory as Jordan Turner (Casco, Maine) netted ten points in the final frame.

The Badgers were led by Mariah Ramos on 20 points and six boards while LaPerle ended with 17 points, three rebounds, and a pair of assists.

Turner just missed a triple double effort with 19 points, 15 rebounds, and nine assists for the Terriers.  Malorie Weaver (Palermo, Maine) and Sammie Griffin (Union, Maine) also reached double figures with 13 points and 11 points respectively.

Thomas will return to action tomorrow as they take on Lyndon at 1:00 p.m.
