WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College women's basketball team has announced its 2017-18 schedule for the upcoming season. In her fourth season, Head Coach Emily Cummins and the Terriers will take on a full 25-game schedule.
The team is coming off a 7-18 (4-14 NAC) season, a program best since 2012-13. Cummins will return eight players this season with an addition of freshmen set to make an immediate impact.
"I am looking forward to getting this season underway as we have brought in a talented group of new players in addition to our eight solid returning players," said Cummins. "We have a phenomenal team dynamic and I am very excited to get back on the court with them as we continue to build and achieve new levels of success."
The Terriers will open up their new season on the road as they travel to Wheaton (Mass.) on Wednesday, November 15. A few days later, they will once again host the Thomas Tip-Off Classic on the 18th and 19th for a round-robin style tournament featuring Lesley, Fisher (Mass.), and the University of Maine at Farmington. The month of November will be completed with the Battle of Elm City at Colby College on the 21st and on the road against Husson on the 28th for their North Atlantic Conference opener.
The Terriers will begin the first weekend of December with back-to-back home conference games with Lyndon State and Johnson. They will then wrap-up the fall semester with a home contest against the University of Maine at Presque Isle on the 6th and a road game at the University of Maine at Farmington on the 9th. The month will be concluded with non-conference games at home against Southern Maine on the 29th and at Gordon on the 30th.
"We have strengthened our non-conference schedule this year by adding Wheaton and University of Southern Maine to our schedule," stated Cummins. "Our competitive non-conference opponents will undoubtedly help us prepare for conference play."
The beginning of January is road heavy for the Terriers as they open 2018 at New England College and Colby-Sawyer. After hosting a single conference game on the 13th against UMaine-Farmington, they will travel to Vermont for a weekend trip at Green Mountain and Castleton. Three-straight home games against Maine Maritime, Colby-Sawyer, and New England College will complete the month.
In the final month, the Terriers travel to Vermont to take on Johnson and Lyndon State before they finish the regular season with three of four home games against Castleton, Green Mountain, at Maine Maritime, and home versus Husson.
