WATERVILLE, ME – The Thomas College women's basketball turned the ball over 23 times in a 75-54 defeat to Husson on Thursday night in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action.
The Terriers fall in their third-straight game, moving to 7-17 (4-13 NAC) overall while the Eagles move to 19-4 (15-2 NAC).
Thomas kept paced with the Eagles midway through the first after free throws from Malorie Weaver (Palermo, Maine / Erskine Academy) brought the Terriers within one. Chandler Guerrette and Kenzie Worcester gave the Eagles a 7-2 run to finish the first quarter up 17-11.
The Eagles began to pull away in the second as they shot a strong 8-for-14 from the floor and 7-for-8 from the charity stripe. Sarah Bragg led the Eagles with five points in the quarter while Worcester added four and three assists. Jordan Turner (Casco, Maine / Lake Region), Sammie Griffin (Union, Maine / Medomak Valley), and Karli Stubbs (Auburn, Maine / Edward Little) each hit a three for the Terriers as they trailed 42-25 at the break.
The Terriers looked to make a rally in the third as they outscored the Eagles 19-14. Husson struggled on 4-of-14 shooting while Thomas went 6-for-10. Amira Jones (Chicopee, Mass. / Chicopee) and Turner combined for 12 of their team's 19 in the quarter. Darla Morales hit two three-pointers to lead the Eagles.
Husson got to the free throw line often in the final frame going 9-for-10 at the stripe. Worcester and Morales each added six points to finish the scoring at 75-54.
Jones led the Terriers with a double-double at 13 points and 12 rebounds while Turner finished with 11 points and five boards.
Morales netted a game-high 18 points for the Eagles and pulled in five rebounds. Worcester added 17 points and six assists while Guerrette scored 15 points.
The Terriers will finish their season on Saturday, February 18 as they travel to Maine Maritime for a 3:00 p.m. contest.
