McClenahan Named to NAC Women's Hoops Sportsmanship Team

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Thomas College junior guard Tess McClenahan (Salmon, Idaho / Salmon) has been named to the 2016 North Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Sportsmanship Team, the conference office announced Wednesday.

McClenahan, the Terriers' point guard, started all 25 games this season. She averaged 4.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.2 blocks per game -- leading the team in assists and steals and ranking third in rebounding and fourth in scoring.

McClenahan shot 33.7 percent (35-of-104) from the field while playing 33.3 minutes per game. This season, she hit her season-high of 12 points twice, December 4 at Green Mountain and January 13 against New England College. McClenahan also pulled down a career- and team season-high 16 rebounds in a win at UMaine-Presque Isle on December 13.

She scored 111 points, pulled down 130 rebounds, dished out 68 assists, had 39 steals and blocked five shots during the 2015-16 season.

Selection to the NAC Women's Basketball Sportsmanship Team, which is new for the 2015-2016 year, is reserved for those who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. The honorees are individuals who have positively affected the women's basketball culture and game environment and whose behavior clearly demonstrates sportsmanship and integrity that go beyond the playing rules and etiquette.

The North Atlantic Conference office also announced the 2016 women's basketball all-conference team Wednesday. Regular-season champion Husson captured the bulk of the awards as senior Victoria McIntyre was named NAC Player of the Year, junior Chandler Guerrette was named NAC Defensive Player of the Year and head coach Kissy Walker was named NAC Coach of the Year. The Eagles also had three all-conference selections -- McIntyre, Guerrette (both first team) and freshman Kenzie Worcester (second team).

Maine Maritime freshman Alayne Felix was named NAC Rookie of the Year and UMF senior Elizabeth Ferry was named the NAC Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year.
