Terriers Downed by Hot-Shooting Mariners

WATERVILLE, ME – The Thomas College women's basketball team lost a North Atlantic Conference matchup on Wednesday evening against Maine Maritime Academy by a final score of 74-44. Juniors Katie McAllister and Ashleigh Gagne led the Terriers, scoring 14 points each in the defeat.

The game started as a defensive battle, as neither team broke into the double-digit points mark until there was 10 minutes remaining in the half.  Maine Maritime took the lead into the break, going up 33-13 after ending the half on a 12-0 run.  Katie McAllister and Jordan Agger-Barnes each scored four points in the half for the Terriers, while McAllister also grabbed seven rebounds.

The Terriers picked up their offense in the second half, connecting on 52 percent of their shots. But the Mariners made 66.7 percent of their shots to keep the Terriers from making a comeback bid.

Thomas lost the battle on the boards 32-28 and committed 17 turnovers that Maine Maritime converted into 17 points. The Mariners also knocked down nine three-pointers while the Terriers only connected on one.

McAllister posted a double-double on the night, scoring 14 and collecting 10 boards. Jillian Perron had a game-high 21 points and seven rebounds, while Kristi Willey added 20 points, eight rebounds and six assists for the Mariners.

Thomas will conclude their season on Saturday, February 21 on the road against Husson. Game time is set for 3:00 PM.
