MEDFORD, Mass. – The Thomas College track and field team competed at the Sunshine Classic on Saturday hosted by Tufts University.
The Thomas men's team finished fifth overall in the event while the women's team earned a sixth place finish.
In men's action, freshman Shammah Gahomera earned two runner-up finishes in the 110 meter and 400 meter hurdles. Sophomore Jarrod Ottman also ran two a second place finish in the men's 5000 meter while teammate Devon Davis recorded a strong seventh place run in the 100 meter. The Terriers took the lone win of the day in the 4 x 100 meter relay with Gahomera, Davis, Patrik Lubin, and Shaynen Schofield. In field events, Troy Worster earned a pair of top-five finishes in the shotput and discus competitions.
On the women's side, the Terriers saw two top-five finishes with Lia Johnson recording a third place run in the 100 meter while J'auna James ended up fourth in the 200 meter. In the shotput, Cydnee Todd and Lillian Friars finished fourth and fifth respectively while Friars also threw to seventh out of 15 competitors in the discus.
The Terriers will complete the outdoor season next Sunday, April 29 at Brown University.
