WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College track and field hosted the program's first meet on Saturday at the Alfond Track on the campus of Colby College.
The Terrier men won the overall event over the University of Maine at Farmington and Saint Joseph's (Maine) while the Thomas women finished fifth.
In men's action, Baramee Janla and Devon Davis finished 1-2 in the 100 meter while Davis took the win followed by Janla in the 200 meter. Shaynen Schofield earned a top-three finish in the 400 meter. The Terriers earned another victory in the 5000 meter run with Jarrod Ottman taking the top spot. Shammah Gahomera ran to two first place finishes in the 110 meter and 400 meter hurdles followed by a win for Nathan Benoit in the 3000 meter steeplechase. To round out track events, the 4x100 relay team of Janla, Schofield, Davis, and Patrik Lubin garnered the win.
In field events, Brandon Stevens placed inside the top-three in the men's triple jump. Troy Worster placed in the top-five in three throwing events with runner-up finishes in the discus and shot put followed by a fourth place finish in the hammer throw. Reid Wallingford finished fifth out of 16 competitors in the javelin throw.
On the women's side, J'auna James and Taylor Sheley finished fourth and fifth in the 400 meter. Marleen Ramirez also finished in the top-five of the women's 1500 meter run. In field events, Lillian Friars won the discus and hammer throw. Cydnee Todd finished in the second spot in the shot put.
The Terriers squad will travel to Tufts University next Saturday, April 21.
