BRUNSWICK, MAINE – The Thomas College club track and field team was back in action on Saturday afternoon at the Bowdoin Indoor Invitational III.
For the men's team scores, the Terriers finished fourth out of six teams behind Bowdoin, Coast Guard, and Colby College. Behind Thomas was the University of Maine at Farmington and Saint Joseph's (Maine).
Freshman Jarrod Ottman won the Men's 5000 meters event as he finished with a time of 16:20.67, putting him 42 seconds in front of the second place runner. The Terriers received another top three finish from Brandon Monroe who placed third in the men's high jump at 1.83 meters.
In the men's shot put, Troy Worster and Reid Wallingford finished seventh and eighth out of 14 competitors. Worster threw to 10.18 meters while Wallingford finished at 9.32 meters. Worster also finished sixth in the men's weight throw at 9.99 meters.
On the women's side, Gabrielle Martineau had a strong showing as she qualified in the final spot out of 17 runners in the women's 60 meters preliminaries. Martineau went on to finish seventh in the finals with a time of 8.38. She also had a strong finish in the women's 200 meters, finished 12th out of 28 runners at 28.00. In the women's shot put, Haylee Patterson threw to a 12th place out of 23 competitors at 8.31 meters.
The Terriers will have time off to prepare for their next event on Friday, February 10 at Boston University.
