GORHAM, ME - The Thomas track & field team competed in the USM Invitational at the University of Southern Maine this past Saturday.
Ibrahim Mustapher again drew attention from other competitors and coaches as he posted the fastest qualifying time in the men's 55m dash at 6.70 seconds. During the finals of the event he added speed to clock in at an impressive 6.66 seconds across the 55m distance but was edged at the line to finish in second place for the day.
Nolan Callahan shocked competitors with an impressive inaugural performance of 11.09 meters in the men's shot put. His throw finished 5th in the competition and first among attending North Atlantic Conference competitors.
Lyth Meyers, another first time competitor for the Terriers, landed himself in scoring position in the men's long jump with a jump of 5.94 meters.
Josh Bockus had his strongest performance to date in the men's 400 meter dash recording a time of 54.96 seconds. His effort landed him in scoring position and the first points of his collegiate career.
In the women's one-mile Amanda Cotter increased her pace to record a time of 6:13. She doubled her effort returning to the track in the 3km posting another strong performance of 12:16.
The Terriers will now surge ahead into their next training cycle with a six-week competition layoff before returning to the outdoor track in mid-March.
