WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College softball team defeated SUNY Canton twice on Sunday in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) games to end their regular season.
GAME 1: SUNY Canton 2, Thomas 5
SUNY Canton picked up an early lead, scoring one in the first. Thomas came back in the third to score four runs and take a 4-1 lead. Lauren Guppy (New Sharon, Maine) had an RBI single while Bailey Dunphy (North Anson, Maine) drove an RBI triple in the inning for the Terriers. The Roos cut the lead to 4-2 with a run in the top of the fifth, but Thomas regained the three-run advantage with a score in the fifth to move on to the 5-3 win.
Katlyn Coulter (Jefferson, N.H.) earned the win, allowing two runs on six hits in the complete-game effort.
GAME 2: SUNY Canton 2, Thomas 4
The Roos gained another early lead, plating a run in the first. The Terriers answered with a run in the second when Kelsey Currier (Cumberland, Maine) hit an RBI double. Canton regained the lead in the top of the fourth, but Thomas answered again with two runs in the fifth to take the lead, including a Coulter RBI single. Thomas added an insurance run in the sixth on a Lexi Colpack (Franklin, N.H.) triple to take the 4-2 win.
Currier earned the win for Thomas allowing one earned run on four hits with seven strikeouts in seven innings.
Thomas will await official seeding for the 2019 North Atlantic Conference Tournament.
