NASHUA, N.H. – The Thomas College softball team swept a doubleheader over Rivier on Tuesday evening.
GAME 1: Thomas 5, Rivier 1
Thomas got on the board in the in the top of the second when Sydney LeBourveau (Jericho, Vt.) scored on a groundout to make it 1-0. The Terriers scored twice in the third, with Katie Taylor (Lebanon, Maine) scoring on an error and LeBourveau driving in a run with an RBI double. Rivier got one back in the fourth to cut the Thomas lead to 3-1. Bailey Dunphy (North Anson, Maine) drove in a pair of runs to extend the Thomas lead, first with a single in the fifth, followed by a triple in the seventh to give Thomas the 5-1 victory.
Katlyn Coulter (Jefferson, N.H.) earned the complete game win for Thomas, allowing nine hits with an unearned run and striking out three.
GAME 2: Thomas 3, Rivier 1
The Terriers picked up a pair in the first with Dunphy and Lexi Colpack (Franklin, N.H.) scoring on an error to put Thomas up 2-0. Thomas added their third in the second with Kelsey Currier (Cumberland, Maine) scoring on a wild pitch to make it 3-0. The Raiders added one in the sixth, but Thomas went on with the 3- win.
Currier allowed five hits and an earned run in the circle, while striking out eight to earn the complete-game win.
Thomas will visit NVU-Lyndon for a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) doubleheader on Wednesday, April 24 at 3:00 PM.
