BANGOR, Maine – The Thomas College softball team spilt a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) doubleheader with Husson on Saturday afternoon.
GAME 1: Thomas 4, Husson 2
Thomas went up early, with Sydney LeBourveau (Jericho, Vt.) driving in a run in the first to put the Terriers ahead 1-0. Thomas made it 2-0 in the fourth when LeBourveau scored on a groundout. Bailey Dunphy (North Anson, Maine) doubled Thomas' lead in the fifth, driving a two-run double to left center. The Eagles scored twice in the bottom of the fifth, but the Terriers held on for the 4-2 victory.
Kelsey Currier (Cumberland, Maine) earned the win, pitching seven innings and allowing one earned run on five hits with four strikeouts.
GAME 2: Thomas 1, Husson 8
After Husson opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the second, Thomas answered in the top of the fourth with a Kasey Champney (Holland, Vt.) RBI double that brought Dunphy in to score. The Eagles broke the game open in the fifth with four runs, then added two more in the sixth to take the 8-1 victory.
Breanna Whitmarsh (Puyallup, Wash.) took the loss for Thomas, allowing five runs on ten hits in five innings.
Thomas will host UMaine-Presque Isle in a NAC doubleheader on Sunday, April 14 at 6:30 PM at Colby College.
