CLERMONT, Fla. – The Thomas College softball team fell to Wellesley and nationally-ranked Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Tuesday afternoon.
GAME 1: Thomas 1, Wellesley 2
After Thomas threatened in the top of the first, but left two runners in scoring position, Wellesley scored on a single in the first to take the early edge, 1-0. The Blue doubled their lead in the third, with another RBI single making it 1-0. Thomas got on the board in the fifth, with Katie Taylor (Lebanon, Maine) driving in her seventh run of the year with and RBI single. Wellesley got out of a first and third situation in the sixth and moved on with the 2-1 win.
Sydney LeBourveau (Jericho, Vt.) took the loss for Thomas, allowing two runs on seven hits in six innings pitched.
GAME 2: No. 20 Wisconsin-Oshkosh 7, Thomas 0
Both teams' bats were quite in the first three frames, combining for just four hits. Oshkosh took the lead in the fourth with an RBI Double that brought two runs in to score. The Terriers hung in until the final inning, where the Titans put up five runs to take the 7-0 victory.
Katlyn Coulter (Jefferson, N.H.) was given the loss, giving up four earned runs on 12 hits in 6.1 innings worked.
Thomas will play in their final day of THE Spring Games in Clermont, Fla. on Wednesday, March 27 when they take on Lewis & Clark and Union at Legends Way starting at 9:45 AM.
