CLERMONT, Fla. – The Thomas College softball team split their two games on the second day of their trip to Florida on Wednesday afternoon.
GAME 1: Thomas 2, Endicott 3
After a scoreless two and a half innings, the Gulls got on the board first with a sacrifice fly in the third. The Terriers knotted it up in the top of the fifth when Madison Thornton (Hancock, Maine) scored on an Endicott error to make it 1-1. Thomas took the lead in the top of the sixth with a Jordanna Agger (Wells, Maine) double to right scoring Sydney LeBourveau (Jericho, Vt.) to give Thomas the 2-1 lead that they would take into the bottom of the seventh. The Gulls loaded the bases in the final frame and recorded the walk-off double to win it 3-2.
GAME 2: Buffalo St. 1, Thomas 4
The Terriers got an early 2-0 lead when LeBourveau hit an RBI double followed by an RBI single by Kasey Champney in the first. The score stayed the same until the top of the fourth, when the Bengals cut the lead with an RBI single. LeBourveau hit her second home run in as many days, this one a two-run shot in the fifth, to put the Bengals away, 4-1.
LeBourveau earned the win, throwing five innings and allowing a run on five hits. Coulter threw two scoreless innings of relief for the save.
Thomas takes on Lawrence and Kalamazoo in a doubleheader at Legends Way in Clermont, Fla., starting at 3:45 PM.
