CLERMONT, Fla. – The Thomas College softball team wrapped up their spring trip with three straight losses to St. Olaf, No. 8 Luther, and Loras on Wednesday afternoon in a tripleheader at Legends Way Ballfields.
Game 1: St. Olaf 6, Thomas 2
The Terriers brought across a run in the opening frame on an RBI double from Katlyn Coulter (Jefferson, N.H.). On the mound, Coulter held the Oles off the board in the first three innings until they scored in the top of the fourth.
Thomas regained the lead in the bottom half of the inning on a single down the right field line from Katie Taylor (Lebanon, Maine).
The lead was short lived as the St. Olaf offense exploded for four runs in the fifth and another in the six to steal a 6-2 win.
Julie Graf earned the relief win for the Oles in three innings, one hits, and no runs. Abby Grismer took the save in the final inning, giving up one hit.
Coulter was given the loss for the Terriers in the six innings, nine hits, and five runs (three earned).
Game 2: No. 8 Luther 8, Thomas 0 – 5 innings
Norse pitcher Courtney Cooper kept the Terriers bats silent all game in five innings, allowing two hits. Luther plated one run in the first, two in the fourth, and five in the fifth.
Sydney LeBourveau (Jericho, Vt.) threw 4.2 innings for Thomas, allowing nine hits and eight runs (five earned).
Game 3: Loras 2, Thomas 0
After a scoreless five innings, the Duhawks capitalized on two Thomas miscues with two outs in the sixth to score two runs.
The Terriers looked to rally in the seventh but was shut down by Loras starter Kyleigh Becker who threw a complete game, allowing five hits and no runs. Haley Littlefield (Mt. Desert Island, Maine) was strong on the mound for Thomas, in 5.2 innings, six hits, and one run (none earned).
The Terriers will return home to Maine and will take on Bates in a doubleheader on April 5.
