CLERMONT, Fla. – The Thomas College softball team earned two victories on Sunday with a 6-3 extra innings win over Loras and a 5-2 win over Mount Mary at Legends Way Ballfields.
Game 1: Thomas 6, Loras 3 – 8 innings
Each team pushed across a run in the first inning with Lexi Colpack (Franklin, N.H.) scoring on a passed ball for Thomas and Shannon Coyle hitting a sacrifice fly for Loras.
The Terriers took the lead as they tallied a run in the third and fourth on RBI singles from Kayla Bess (Madison, Maine) and Lauren Farina (Schenectady, N.Y.) to make it 3-1. The Duhawks rallied back with runs in the fourth and sixth to tie the game up at 3-3 to force extra innings.
In extras, Thomas plated three runs on an RBI single by Julia Nadeau (Randolph, Maine) and a two-RBI single from Colpack. Terrier pitcher Sydney LeBourveau (Jericho, Vt.) shut down the Duhawks in the home half of the inning to preserve the 6-3 win.
LeBourveau threw all eight innings for Thomas in the win with seven hits and three runs.
Emma Corkill was given the loss for Loras, scattering 13 hits and five runs (three earned).
Game 2: Thomas 5, Mount Mary 2
The Terriers stormed out of the gate in the first three innings to take a 5-0, capitalizing on the Blue Angels' miscues. LeBourveau and Oberholzer each singled in runs while Bess and LeBourveau each scored on an error.
Mount Mary chipped away at their deficit in the fifth and sixth scoring one unearned run in each frame. Thomas starter Katlyn Coulter (Jefferson, N.H.) sat the Blue Angels down in the seventh to finish the game at 5-2.
Coulter earned a complete game win for the Terriers, allowing six hits and two runs (none earned), while striking out eight.
Hannah Harnsberger was given the loss for Mount Mary in six innings, giving up 11 hits and five runs (none earned).
The Terriers will have a day off on Monday before the play D'Youville and Kalamazoo on Tuesday.
