Eugley and Morse Named to All-Conference Teams

WHITINGHAM, VT - The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) has announced the 2015 season awards for softball and two Terriers have been recognized.

Senior shortstop/centerfielder Alyssa Eugley has been named to the All-Conference First Team while sophomore pitcher/shortstop Sonja Morse has been named to the All-Conference Second Team.

This is the third consecutive year on the All-Conference team for Eugley, and her second in a row on the First Team. The senior captain helped lead the Terriers to a runner-up finish in the conference tournament. Eugley finished the season with a .288 batting average, collecting 32 hits with eight doubles, one triple and three homeruns. Eugley also finished tied for second in the conference in stolen bases with 10 and lead the conference in walks drawn with 16.

Morse makes her first appearance on the All-Conference team in her first year with the Terriers. The sophomore finished in the top 10 in the conference in all major pitching categories, as she made 18 starts on the season, recording 15 complete game with nine wins, 109 strikeouts and a 3.36 ERA in 114.2 innings pitched. As a batter, Morse had a .291 average, compiling 30 hits with four doubles, two homers, 22 runs scored and 13 RBI's.


Husson senior pitcher Kayla Merrill (Bethel, Maine) has been selected as the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Softball Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year, while New England College freshman outfielder Shawnie Clark (Holden, Mass.) earned the Rookie of the Year honor to headline the 2015 All-Conference announcement. Castleton head coach Eric Ramey was named Coach of the Year and the Johnson State Badgers were voted to receive the Team Sportsmanship Award.

NAC All-Conference selections are determined by a vote of the conference coaches.

Joining K. Merrill on the All-Conference First Team were Eagle teammates sophomore catcher Casey Lopes (New Bedford, Mass.), junior shortstop Lyndsay Merrill (Bethel, Maine), and senior outfielder Deb Colpitts (Levant, Maine), Castleton junior shortstop Jessica Babcock (Fairfax, Vt.), junior third base Brittany Brayman (Hartford, N.Y.), and sophomore pitcher Kayla Wood (Dummerston, Vt.), New England College junior outfielder Kiley Williams (Salem, Utah), and Thomas senior outfielder/shortstop Alyssa Eugley (Sidney, Maine).

Second team selections included Clark, Castleton senior second base Kayla Daigle (Biddeford, Maine) and sophomore first base Katie Gagne (Highgate, Vt.), UMaine-Farmington junior catcher Meryl Bond (Jefferson, Maine), Husson sophomore second base Nicole Andrade (New Bedford, Mass.), Johnson State sophomore shortstop Anna Bingham (Island Pond, Vt.) and junior pitcher Andrea Williams (Thorburn, Nova Scotia), Lyndon sophomore second base Dakota Crane (Central, S.C.), and Thomas sophomore pitcher/shortstop Sonja Morse (South China, Maine).
