Terriers Take Down Falcons in Doubleheader Sweep

WATERVILLE, ME – The Thomas softball team swept Fisher College in a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Falcons 10-2 in five innings in the first game before taking game two 7-1.

With the wins, the Terriers move to 12-19 overall on the season while Fisher drops to 7-28.

GAME ONE

Briana Warren goes 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI's to lead the Terriers to a 10-2 game one win in five innings.

Thomas scored in all five innings, highlighted by a five-run fourth inning. Korrie Laren opened up the scoring in the first on a single to left field that scored Warren. Warren then collected her first RBI in the second inning on a double to right center, plating Mary Ortiz. Emily McKenney doubled home a runner in the third as Thomas opened up a 3-0 lead.

The Falcons got two back in the top of the fourth, as Mikayla Zimmerman hit a two-run homer to trim the Terrier lead to one.

Sonja Morse got the bottom of the inning going for Thomas as she singled home two runners. Morse would score on a sacrifice fly by Jordan Agger-Barnes. Taylor M. Johnson doubled home two more runners for Thomas as they broke the game open, taking an 8-2 lead.

The Terriers would finish off Fisher in the fifth, as Warren and Morse each drove in a run to collect the eight-run win. McKenney earned the win on the mound, allowing just three hits and two runs with three strikeouts in four innings of work.

Morse had a season-high three RBI's to lead the Terriers at the plate.

GAME TWO

Taylor M. Johnson recorded two hits and drove in two runs as Thomas went on to take game two 7-1 over Fisher to sweep the doubleheader.

After a scoreless first inning, the Terriers got on the board in the second inning, as Nicole Ryder doubled in a run and Chelsea Hale singled home Ryder to give Thomas a 2-0 lead.

The Falcons got one back in the third, as Morgan Selmi hit a solo homerun, the second of the day for Fisher to cut the deficit to one.

Thomas would respond in the bottom half, plating three more runs to pad their lead. Warren and Morse scored runs on wild pitches by Fisher starter Mikayla Zimmerman, and Johnson singled home the third run of the inning to make it 5-1.

The Terriers added one run in the fifth and sixth, as Johnson and Alyssa Eugley each drove in one run.

Faith Robinson picked up her third win of the season on the mound, allowing four hits and one run while striking out four in four innings.

Thomas will return to the field on Tuesday, April 28 for a non-conference road doubleheader against Bates College. First game is scheduled for a 3:30 PM start.
