LYNDON CENTER, VT – The Thomas softball team picked up two wins on Sunday as they beat Lyndon 5-2 in game one and 6-3 in game two in North Atlantic Conference softball action this afternoon.
The Thomas (6-17, 4-2 NAC) attack was led by Briana Warren, as she went 3-for-4, knocking in the games first run in the top of the third with an RBI triple. Sonja Morse, Alyssa Eugley, Korrie Laren, and Taylor M. Johnson all had one RBI in the victory.
Morse went the full seven innings and had a season-high 11 strikeouts on the mound for the complete game victory, her third on the season.
Dakota Crane led the Lyndon (6-16, 3-7 NAC) offense, as she had two hits in game one along with a walk and an RBI.
Game two saw Lyndon jump out to a quick 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning when Shelby Sheridan knocked a ball up the middle, scoring Katie Davis and Dewitt.
Thomas responded in the third as Eugley tripled to right center field to score Morse. Laren singled following the Eugley triple to tie the game up at two. Johnson came in and hit a two-run double, giving Thomas a lead they would not give up.
Morse started again on the mound and went five innings, recording five strikeouts to get another win for the Terriers.
Thomas will return to the field on Tuesday, April 21 to take on Fisher College at home in a doubleheader, starting at 3:00 PM.
