CLERMONT, FL - The Thomas softball team came up short Saturday morning in Clermont as they dropped both games of a doubleheader to the University of Chicago.
GAME ONE RECAP
The Terriers could not overcome a strong start by Chicago, as the Maroons jumped on top early with a three-run top of the first inning en route to a 7-2 win in game one of the doubleheader.
Thomas was able to respond to the quick start by Chicago, scoring one run in both the first and second innings to pull within one run at 3-2. Briana Warren scored off a wild pitch by Maroon starting pitcher Tabbetha Bohac in the first, then singled home Taylor M. Johnson in the second.
Chicago came back with a big four-run third inning that were the final runs scored in the game.
Warren led the Terrier offense, going 2 for 4 with a run scored and one batted in. Sonja Morse pitched a complete game on mound, giving up 13 hits, seven runs (five earned) with one strikeout.
GAME TWO RECAP
Thomas had a tough time getting their bats going as they went down 7-0 in the second game of the doubleheader against Chicago. The Terriers had just four hits in the game.
The Terriers had some chances, as they left six runners on base.
Thomas concludes their 2015 spring trip to Clermont, playing against some competition, and unabel to come away with a win. They will return for some more non-conference action on Thursday, April 2 to take on the Saint Joseph's College Monks for a doubleheader starting at 3:00 PM.
