CLERMONT, FL - The Thomas softball team played a total of five games on Wednesday and Thursday of their spring trip to Florida, and the Terriers were unable to come away with victory.
Thomas played two games on Thursday and three more on Friday.
The Terriers dropped their first game of the day on Thursday in Clermont 8-0 in five innings to Union College (N.Y.), then lost a closely-contested 11-10 game to Carthage College.
Thomas had a tough time getting their bats going against Union, as they were unable to record a hit in the contest. Faith Robinson went the distance on the mound for the Terriers, allowing eight runs (five earned) on seven hits while striking out one.
In a thrilling game against Carthage College, the Terrier offense came alive, recording season-highs in hits (15) and runs (10). Briana Warren went an impressive 4 for 5 with a double and three runs scored. Sonja Morse had three hits and two runs scored, Korrie Laren and Taylor M. Johnson each had two hits while Jordan Agger-Barnes had three RBI's to lead Thomas.
The Terriers had a 10-9 lead going into the bottom of the sixth until Darian Pelsor of Carthage hit a two-run homerun to give the Lady Reds the 11-10 lead and ultimately the win.
Thomas started off the day on Friday against Elmhurst College and were taken down 13-0 in five innings. Warren, Morse and Nicole Ryder each recorded hits for the Terriers.
Thomas next took on the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in game two, going down 12-0 in five innings. For their final game on the day, the Terriers fell versus Buffalo State 11-3 in six innings.
The Terriers close out their spring trip on Saturday, March 28 with a doubleheader against Chicago University starting at 9:00 AM.
