BANGOR, ME- Thomas (1-13, 0-2 NAC) was unable to walk away with a conference win, falling to Husson (8-8, 2-0 NAC) in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) softball doubleheader Thursday evening. The Terriers fell in extra innings 3-2 in the first matchup, while falling 11-0 in the final game.
Thomas struck first, plating home two runs in the second inning as Lauren Hachey (Oakland, Maine) and Taylor Bergeron (Lyman, Maine) each scored, while Jordan () picked up an RBI. The Eagles would tally one run in the fourth, then another in the sixth to even the score.
Husson would strike in the eighth inning to secure the 3-2 win, as the Terriers would be unable to match them in their last at bats.
Faith Robinson (Auburn, N.H.) was charged with the loss, despite throwing the complete game and giving up a lone earned run, striking out two.
The Eagles jumped out to an early lead, scoring four runs in the first inning. Husson would add another two in the second, and strike for four in the fifth to walk away with an 11-0 win.
Thomas was shutdown offensively, as Husson starter Deb Colpitts (Levant, Maineheld the Terriers hitless, yielding just one runner on a walk.
McKayla Gastia (Milford, Maine) picked up the loss, giving up three earned runs. Bergeron pitched four innings of relief, striking out two.
The Terriers will return to the diamond this weekend, with a doubleheader at Johnson State on Saturday. Last season Thomas was 0-1-1 against the Badgers in Waterville.
