Softball Gets Picked Second
Whitingham, Vt. – The Thomas College softball team has been picked second in the North Atlantic Conference Preseason Coach's Poll as announced by the conference office Thursday afternoon.
The Terriers received 68 votes and sit behind defending champ Husson who received 81 points and all nine first place votes. The University of Maine at Farmington, Castleton State, and Maine Maritime Academy round out the top five in the poll.
The 2011 Thomas squad finished the year up at 19-15 and finished second in the NAC regular season with a record of 12-2. The 2012 squad will return four starters from 2011, and will look to replace All-Conference honorees in Malorrie Blakney and Lindsay Fry. Catcher Samantha Moore, a 2011 All-Conference and All-Tournament recipient anchors a veteran battery with Sara Pavento and Kelsey Crowe in the circle.
The Terriers will throw out their first pitch of the season on March 17th at the University of Maine at Orono when they take on the University of Maine Presque Isle in a non-conference matchup. The Terriers first NAC game of the season will take place on April 4th against the Beavers from UMF.
