Waterville, Maine -- The Thomas College Terriers (15-9, 9-1 NAC) faced the Farmington Beavers (9-11, 5-5 NAC) in a North Atlantic Conference double header today. In the first game the Terriers overcame a four run deficit in the first inning to win 6-5. In the second game, the Terriers got a strong pitching performance from junior Jordan Kennedy as she shut out the Beavers in a 5-0 win.
In the first game, the Beavers jumped out to an early four run lead, when McKell Barnes, Kaitlyn Barrlett, Samantha Morency, all had RBIs singles, and Meaghan Donnell had a sac fly scoring Bartlett.
The Terriers answered back in the bottom of third when Lindsay Fry hit a RBI single to centerfield scoring Lauren Hachey. The Terriers pulled within one run when Samantha Moore hit a two run home run to right field to make it 4-3.
In the top of the fourth, the Beavers made it 5-3 when Liz Sargent scored on a throwing error by Thomas third basemen Ali Kriegel. The Terriers tied it up in the bottom of the fourth when pinch hitter Cassie Manning hit a two RBI single scoring Kriegel and Kaymala Eells to make 5-5.
The score remain tied, until the bottom of the seventh when Hachey doubled to centerfield, and the next at bat Manning hit a triple to drive in the game winning run.
The Terriers Sara Pavento pitched the complete game allowing four earned runs, eight hits, while striking out two in the win. The Terriers top hitters were Manning who went 2-2 with three RBIs and Moore who went 1-3 with a homerun and two RBIs.
For the Beavers Emma Vaillancourt pitched six innings allowing six runs, eight hits, while striking out 3 in the loss. Bartlett went 2-4 with a RBI for the Beavers.
In the second game, the Terriers scored first in the bottom of the fourth when Mallorie Blakney reached third base on a bunt after a throwing error by the Beavers third basemen. Blakney scored on the next play when Moore single to centerfield. The Terriers scored another run when Moore came home on a wild pitch. Hachey gave the Terriers a four run lead when she hit a two RBI double scoring Manning and Kimberly Grant.
The Terriers Kennedy pitched a complete game shutout, allowing five hits while striking out five batters in the win. The Terriers top hitters were Kristen Loubier who went 2-3 with a RBI and Moore who went 1-2 with a RBI.
Kaitlyn Bartlett pitched six innings allowing four earn runs, five hits while striking out one in the loss.
Thomas will be back in action on April 22, as the Terriers travel to the University of Husson. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
