Eliot, Maine -- The Thomas College softball team (11-7, 5-1 NAC) played both Johnson St. (1-13, 0-4 NAC) and Lyndon (5-7, 1-5 NAC) over the weekend and won both games against each team. The Terriers are now in second place in the North Atlantic Conference behind Husson (9-10, 4-0 NAC).
On Saturday, Thomas faced Johnson St. with Sara Pavento getting the start in the first game. She pitched five innings allowing no runs and five hits in a 14-0 shutout. Kelsey Crowe and Mallorie Blakney both contributed with three RBI's as the Terriers recorded 16 hits in the first game.
In the second game, Thomas used Jordan Kennedy to get the win as she pitched seven innings allowing three runs and six hits in the 7-3 win. Lindsay Fry and Cassie Manning recorded two RBI's apiece in the victory.
On Sunday, the Terriers played against Lyndon in another doubleheader. Pavento took to the mound pitching another five innings allowing a run on three hits and striking out three in the 9-1 victory. The only run for the Hornets came off a homerun by Natalia Shams in the bottom of the first. Sarah Estes had three RBI's in the game to lead the Terriers.
In the final game of the weekend, Pavento and Kennedy would combine for the 11-7 win. Pavento pitched four innings allowing five hits and three earned runs while Kennedy pitched the last three innings allowing one run on two hits. Crowe had another three RBI game while Hornets' pitching walked nine batters in the game which proved to be costly.
Thomas will have a day off before their next game. The Terriers will be back on the road at Bowdoin on Tuesday with the first game scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
