Kerry Smart was named the Head Women's and Men's Cross Country Coach in 2009.
Smart has been instrumental in the growth of the cross country program at Thomas, coaching the first all-conference selection William Janakis in 2012, and the first victor in the women's side in 2013 when Crystal Peatfield took top honors at the Maine Maritime Invitational. Also, Smart led the charge as Thomas hosted their first NAC Championship Meet in 2013, along with the first invitational in the programs history earlier that fall.
Smart, a University of Maine graduate, spent three years as captain for the Division I Maine Black Bears Cross Country Team, and in 1993 made the All NAC Team.
From 1997-2001, Coach Smart served as the Athletic Liaison for the University of Southern Maine in Gorham, Maine. While there, she helped develop the student advising programs with the Athletic Director, and advised half of the student-athletes at USM.
Smart also volunteered for three years at the Boys and Girls Club as a coach for cross country for both indoor and outdoor track, and many of her runners went on to compete at the Division I level.
Smart also serves as the Director of Athletic Fundraising at Thomas College.
