WATERVILLE, Maine – The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) has released its pre-championship poll for men's and women's cross country. In a vote conducted by the league's coaches, the Thomas College men were picked to finish tied for third, while the women were tabbed to finish seventh.
MEN'S COACHES POLL
Maine Maritime Academy was selected as the favorite to win, collecting four first-place votes for a total of 59 points in the pre-championship poll, while UMaine-Farmington garnered three first-place votes for 54 points to claim second and Thomas took third with 40 points and the remaining first-place vote. The Terriers were tied with SUNY Canton, who also received 40 points.
NVU-Lyndon was tabbed fifth with 35 points, while Husson was sixth (33 points). UMaine-Presque Isle took seventh (19 points) followed by NVU-Johnson with eight points.
WOMEN'S COACHES POLL
Husson was the favorite to take the championship after receiving five first-place votes for a total of 60 points in the pre-championship poll, while UMaine-Farmington claimed a close second with 59 points after receiving the remaining three first-place votes. UMaine-Presque Isle (46 points) and NVU-Lyndon (39 points) rounded out the top four.
Maine Maritime Academy placed fifth with 36 points, while SUNY Canton was voted sixth (22 points). Thomas took seventh (15 points) while Johnson finished the poll with 11 points in eighth.
