XC: Ottman Takes First at UMPI Invitational

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Jarrod Ottman (Merrimack, N.H.) defeated Maine Martime's Joseph Van Ess by nearly a minute to take individual first place at the UMPI Invitational on Saturday morning. The men finished second as a team behind MMA, while two women competed as individuals.

Behind Ottman's 20:36.1 pace, Jarrod Hooper (Lyman, Maine) crossed the finish line next for Thomas, coming in fifth place with a time 23:07.1, while Allister Piccini (Winslow, Maine) followed in seventh (24:06.5). The Terriers remaining top-5 runners consisted of Dillon Sullivan (New Gloucester, Maine) and Harrison Mosher (China, Maine) who finished 13th and 14th, respectively.

On the women's side, Natalie Corrigan (Oakland, Maine) and Brooklyn LeClair (Waterville, Maine) competed for Thomas, coming in 12th and 14th, respectively.

The Terriers will run in the Mariner Invitation, which will serve as a preview of the NAC Championship course at Troy Howard Middle School in Belfast, Maine. The women will start at 11:00 AM, while the men take off at 12:00 PM.
