MTEN: Thomas Sweeps USM on Senior Day

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College men's tennis team defeated the University of Southern Maine 9-0 in a non-conference match on Wednesday afternoon at the Harold Alfond Athletic Center.

Thomas took all three doubles, including a forfeit victory at No. 3. Ryan Chasse (Fort Kent, Maine) and Kaleb Payson (Lamoine, Maine) won No. 1 doubles 8-1, while Yontz Sutton (Hamilton, Bermuda) and Jared Waterhouse (Dayton, Maine) took second doubles 8-3.

Thomas took the six singles matches, with a forfeit win at No. 6, to take the 9-0 win.

Chasse and Payson each took their matched by a score of 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 and 2. Waterhouse won No. 3 6-4, 6-1, while Sutton earned a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 4. Christo Naranja (Fort Kent, Maine) rouned out the win for Thomas with a 6-3, 7-5 win.


Prior to the match, Payson and Naranja were recognized for playing in their final home contest.


Thomas will visit Curry for their regular season finale on Saturday, April 20 at 1:00 PM.
