Men's Tennis Shuts Down Southern Maine, 9-0

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College men's tennis team blanked the University of Southern Maine, 9-0, in their first home match of the season on Wednesday afternoon.

The Terriers win their third straight match at 3-2 while the Huskies fall to 0-1 in their season opener.

In doubles action, Ryan Chasse (Fort Kent, Maine) and Zachary Disch (Waterville, Maine) won 8-0 on the one line followed by another 8-0 win by Jared Waterhouse (Dayton, Maine) and Ross Munn (Brunswick, Maine).  In the No. 3 flight, Kaleb Payson (Lamoine, Maine) and Christo Naranja (Fort Kent, Maine) eased to an 8-1 victory.

Chasse and Munn both went on to win 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 and No. 2 singles while Disch won 6-0, 6-1 in threes.  Waterhouse (6-2, 6-3), Payson (6-0, 6-0), and Naranja (6-0, 6-1) finished the sweep for the afternoon.

The Terriers will hit the road on Saturday as they travel to Rhode Island College for a 2:00 p.m. matchup.
