Men's Tennis Downs Arcadia for First Win, 7-2

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Thomas College men's tennis team earned their first victory of the season as they defeated Arcadia University, 7-2, in the third spring trip matchup.

The Terriers improve to 1-2 while the Knights drop move to .500 at 3-3.

In doubles action, Thomas took two-of-three as Ryan Chasse (Fort Kent, Maine) and Zachary Disch (Waterville, Maine) won 8-4 on the No. 1 line.  In the No. 3 flight, Kaleb Payson (Lamoine, Maine) and Christo Naranja (Fort Kent, Maine) cruised to an 8-2 victory to put the Terriers up 2-1. 

The Terriers continued their strong play into singles as Chasse rallied back to a 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-5) victory in number ones.  In threes, Disch handled Jamie Zeng Zhu 6-4, 6-1 while Jared Waterhouse (Dayton, Maine) edged John Zinzer 7-5, 7-5.  Payson held off for a 6-1, 2-6, 1-0 (10-5) win followed by Naranja who blanked Tim Zeng 6-0, 6-0 in sixes.

Thomas will wrap up their spring trip on Friday, March 16 as they take on Nazareth.
