Rob Disch Named Interim Men's Tennis Coach

WATERVILLE, Maine – Thomas College Director of Athletics Shanda Ness has announced that Rob Disch has been hired as the Interim Head Men's Tennis Coach for the 2018 season.  Disch will begin his new role by leading a young squad fresh off a strong campaign a year ago.

"We are very excited to have Rob Disch leading our men's tennis program this spring," said Ness.  "He has an extensive tennis background both as a player and a coach and I am confident he will provide an excellent experience for our student-athletes."

Disch brings 20 years of coaching at the high school level to the Terrier program.  Most recently he has served as the Boys' Varsity Tennis Coach at Waterville High School since 2015.  Prior to coaching at Waterville, Disch was at the helm of the Gardiner High School Boys' Varsity team for 17 seasons.

"We should do well in our conference and our non-conference matches in New England," said Disch.  "The Hilton Head trip will be filled with some strong teams that will tell us our strengths and weaknesses.  Overall I'm looking forward to strong and successful season as well as coaching a great bunch of guys that want to play and learn the game of tennis."

Disch graduated from Plymouth State University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree in health, physical education, and recreation.

The Terriers are coming off an 11-6 record in 2017 as well as a 5-1 record in conference play.  The team earned the number two seed in the NAC tournament and fell in the championship round.  Early on in the season, the Terriers found themselves on a nine-match winning streak after a 1-4 start on their annual South Carolina trip.
