WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College men's tennis team won their second straight match as they defeated Rhode Island College at home on Sunday, 8-1.
In the victory, the Terriers improve to 3-4 on the season the Anchormen stay winless at 0-3.
The Terriers completed a sweep in doubles play as Ryan Chasse (Fort Kent, Maine) and Zachary Disch (Waterville, Maine) defeated William Tavares and Lee Tiberi, 8-1, on the one line. In number two action, Jared Waterhouse (Dayton, Maine) and Kaleb Payson (Lamoine, Maine) took down Chandler Scott and Cory Duquette in a close match, 8-6. Ross Munn (Brunswick, Maine) and Mark Amato (Manchester Conn.) finished with an 8-3 victory over Matthew Gambardello and Alan Esposito.
In singles action, Chasse took a 6-2, 6-0 victory in the top slot while Munn was victorious in twos with a 6-3, 6-1 match. Disch cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win on the three line while Waterhouse took down Duquette in number fours 6-4, 6-4. Amato finished with a 6-2, 6-2 win in sixes.
The Terriers will open conference play on Saturday, April 1 as they face Johnson State at home for a 1:00 p.m. matchup.
