RUTLAND, VT – The Thomas College men's tennis team won three doubles matches and five of six singles matches to score an 8-1 win over Green Mountain College in North Atlantic Conference play on Sunday at the Vermont Sport and Fitness Club.
Thomas (3-3, 2-1 NAC) swept all three doubles matches to take a commanding lead followed by victories at second and third singles by Eric Morin and Malcolm Marshall to clinch the match for the Terriers.
After having his unbeaten streak broken at 14 matches, Connor Braden returned to the winning side of the ledger in No. 1 singles defeating Tyler Small 6-1, 6-7 (2-7) 6-1. Morin defeated Nate Berner-Tobin 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, while Marshall needed three sets to get past Jack Hepburn 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Caleb Mora won fourth flight singles with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Grey McCampbell. In No. 5 singles, Jonte Roussel came away with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Andrew Woodman, while Federico Trujillo took sixth flight singles with a pair of 6-1 victories over Forrest Teutsch.
Morin teamed with Small to win No. 1 doubles 8-2 over Braden and Berner-Tobin. Marshall and Mora won No. 2 doubles 8-5 over Hepburn and McCampbell, while Roussel and Trujillo combined to claim third flight doubles in an 8-1 win over Woodman and Teutsch.
Thomas will travel to play Southern Maine on Tuesday in non-conference action.\
