WATERVILLE, ME- The Thomas men's tennis team had a successful 2013 season, finishing the year with an 8-6 overall record, while going 4-2 in conference and advancing to the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) finals.
In the programs first winning season since 2009, the young Terrier squad was led by two-time Singles First Team All-NAC recipient Eric Morin (Lewiston, Maine), who went 7-6 overall, 4-1 in NAC play while playing exclusively in the number one spot.
Freshman Tyler Small (Surry, Maine) also was a huge contributor in his first year of competition, compiling a 9-4 overall, 4-1 NAC record in the number two singles slot, while being selected to the All-Conference Second Team.
Thomas also was contributed by Dakota Duplissie (Hampden, Maine), who excelled in his first year of competitive tennis with a 6-3 record in singles, plus Joseph Greco (Greene, Maine), Gershom Renee (Hartford, Conn.) and Caleb Mora (Surry, Maine), who had six, three, and four wins respectively in singles competition.
The Terriers had a strong end of season, which saw the team go 4-1 in the last five matches – all conferences contents, including a thrilling 5-4 win against Castleton in the NAC East Semifinals.
With no juniors or seniors on the roster, the Terriers will look to grow on an impressive season and will hope to be a threat in the NAC for seasons to come.
