Terriers Swept by USM in Home Opener

WATERVILLE, ME- Thomas (0-2) was unable to pick up a home-opening victory against University of Southern Maine (1-2) in a non-conference men's tennis match on Wednesday evening, as the visiting Huskies were able to come away with a sweep.

Eric Morin (Lewiston, Maine) and Joseph Greco (Greene, Maine) put up a strong battle in number one doubles, ultimately falling 8-6 to Thaddeus St. John (Weld, Maine) and Chris Ross (Somerset, Mass.). Evan Boudreau (Lamoine, Maine) and Jonte Roussel (Brockton, Mass) also fought hard in number four doubles, falling 8-5.

Number two singles had to be settled in a tiebreaker in the third set, as USM's Scott Gagne (Lewiston, Maine) won the final 7-3 over Tyler Small (Surry, Maine), who had won the second set 6-0, the only set won by the Terriers in the match.

Thomas will return to action on Saturday, March 23 as they host Lyndon State for a 4pm start time.
