WATERVILLE, Maine – After securing their second-consecutive and sixth overall North Atlantic Conference Championship, the Thomas College men's soccer team has earned an automatic qualifier to the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament. The Terriers will take on top-ranked Amherst College at regional host Keene State College on Saturday, November 16 at a time to be determined.
Thomas qualified for their sixth national tournament appearance in program history with a 4-1 win over Maine Maritime academy in Sunday's NAC Championship. The Terriers will look to get past the First Round for the first time in their matchup with the Mammoths. The Terriers most recent NCAA bid came last season when they fell to Connecticut College 4-0.
Amherst has been ranked first in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 since October 15. The Mammoths went undefeated (13-0-2) during the regular season to secure the top seed in the NESCAC Tournament, where they were upset by sixth-seeded Middlebury 1-0 in the Semifinal. Their resume was still strong enough to secure their 14th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament as an at at-large bid.
The winner of the match will go on to face the winner of the other semifinal matchup between host Keene State and No. 25 Ithaca College on Sunday, November 17.
More information will be released later in the week regarding game times, tickets and parking.
