Waterville, Maine – The Thomas College men's soccer team scored a season-high seven goals in a 7-0 non-conference win over Unity College on Saturday evening at Smith Field.
Thomas got their first just three minutes in when Zenawi Bowen (St. George's, Bermuda) slid a pass to Woodlin Placide (Les Cayes, Haiti) in front, who buried it to make it 1-0. Placide returned the favor three minutes later, assisting on a Bowen goal in similar fashion that made it 2-0. The Terriers made it 3-0 late in the half when Princiel Kunieki (Portland, Maine) picked up a Unity turnover at the top of the arch and fired it into the left side of goal.
The Terriers expanded their lead to four in the 62nd minute when a Drew Parsons (Farmington, Maine) corner kick found the leaping head of Jack Gallagher (Camden, Maine) and ricocheted into the goal. In the 75th minute, Eric LaBrie (Yarmouth, Maine) dribbled the ball in from near midfield, serpentined through the defense and laid into a shot just inside the box that finished right for the 5-0 lead. He scored another two minutes later when Micah Mendes (Smith's, Bermuda) flicked a pass to LaBrie, who found a seam and took a shot that went just inside the left post and put Thomas up 6-0. Josh Morrissey (Scarborough, Maine) capped off the scoring in the 78th minute, collecting a rebound off his own shot and firing it back in for the 7-0 victory.
Thomas will host Northern Vermont University-Lyndon on Saturday, October 12 in a North Atlantic Conference match at 1:00 PM on Smith Field.
