WENHAM, Mass. – The Thomas College men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Gordon College in their first game of the 2019 season on Friday evening.
Thomas held the bulk of the scoring opportunities in the first 45, outshooting Gordon 6-3, but were unable to find the back of the net and went into the break tied 0-0.
The Scots tipped the scales in the second, holding a 6-4 advantage in shots. Gordon got on the board early in the half with a tally from Ben Mollenhauer in the 54th minute, then added a late insurance goal by Julius Swaim in the 85th to take the 2-0 win.
Brody Veleber earned the win for the Gordon side, stopping all four shots faced in the shutout. John Villanueva (Gray, Maine) made two saves on four shots in the loss.
