WATERVILLE, Maine – The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) has announced its weekly awards for men's soccer, and the NAC Champion Thomas College men's soccer team swept all three awards. Tournament MVP Josh Emard (Lebanon, Maine) was named Player of the Week, Justin Bell (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda) earned Rookie of the Week and Jonathan Dutka (Durham, N.H.) was selected as Defensive Player of the Week.
After 67 minutes of scoreless soccer in the NAC Championship game, Thomas forward Michael Sanzari curved a free kick in front of the net and Josh Emard kicked the ball past the SUNY Canton goaltender for the game-winner.
Bell scored the game-winning goal in the NAC Semifinal to send the Terriers to the NAC Championship game. Bell was named to the All-Tournament team for his impressive performance throughout the championship.
Dutka allowed just one goal in two games to help the Terriers win the 2018 NAC Championship. The senior faced four shots and made three stops in the Terriers 2-1 win over Husson in the semifinal. Dutka followed that up with a three save shutout of SUNY Canton to win the Championship game.
The Terriers move on to the NCAA Division III Tournament, where they'll play opening round host Connecticut College at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 10.
