CASTINE, Maine – The Thomas College men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw with Maine Maritime Academy on Tuesday night in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Ritchie Field.

The first 30 minutes of the game proved to be an extremely physical back-and-forth contest, until Maine Maritime Academy (1-3-1, 0-1-1 NAC) tallied the first goal of the game in the 31st minute. Colby Clarke drew his defender out and passed a ball in front of the net to Liam Welch who beat the charging goalie for his second goal of the season.

Thomas (3-3-1, 1-0-1 NAC) entered halftime with a narrow 7-6 edge in shots, but the Mariners held the 1-0 lead.

In the 57th minute, MacQuille Walker (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda) tied the game at 1-1, when Nawfal El-Antri's (Dorchester, Mass.) shot bounced off a defender and he snuck the ball past Maine Maritime keeper Joshua Reeks.

The two teams continued to battle, but ended regulation deadlocked at 1-1. The Terriers outshot the Mariners 7-2 in the two overtime periods, but Reeks was sharp in net to preserve the draw.

Reeks ended the evening with nine stops, while the Terrier' goalies Jonathan Dutka (Durham, N.H.) and John Villanueva (Gray, Maine) split the time in goal, recording three saves.

The Terriers will hit the road again on Saturday, September 23 as they take on Johnson State at 1:00 p.m.
