In 2015, Marsh Gray was named Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach at Thomas College. In 2016 and 2017, Gray led the Terriers to the NAC Quarterfinals. His defense led the NAC in team defense in 2017, and caused turnovers per game and saves per game in 2016 and 2017. The squad had seven combined All-NAC selections in 2016 and 2017. Nationally, the Terriers’ man down defense ranked fifth, second in individual caused turnovers per game, and tenth in team caused turnovers per game.

Before his time at Thomas, Gray spent the previous two seasons as Head Coach at Husson University. The Eagles enjoyed their finest season in 2015 and reached the NAC Semifinals in 2014 and 2015. Gray’s offense led the NAC in goals per game, shots per game, and shots on goal per game; and his defense led the NAC in caused turnovers per game, man down defense, and scoring defense. Nationally the Eagles ranked 23rd in man down defense, fifth in cause turnovers per game, fourth in ground balls per game, fourth in individual ground balls per game, and first in individual caused turnovers per game. 

Under Gray’s leadership, Husson had the NAC 2015 Defensive Player of the Year and 2015 Rookie of the Year and earned the 2014 Sportsmanship Award. Gray coached seven All-NAC selections, four ECAC Players of the Week, and four NAC Players of the Week; including an Academic All-New England, Scholar All-American, NEILA All-Star, and MLL draft selection for the Denver Outlaws in 2015. Gray improved the Eagle’s record from 5-8 to 9-7 and their stats from 142-276 Points, 94-176 Goals, 411-699 Shots, and 464-662 GB; and Husson was named one of Lax Power’s most improved teams in 2015.

Prior to Husson, Gray was an Assistant Coach at the University of Southern Maine. He coached four All-LEC selections and an ECAC All-New England and NLL draft selection for the Toronto Rock in 2013. He was the Program Director for the MAINEiax Lacrosse Club in 2012 and 2013, which represented Maine with 6 of 8 high school All-Americans and 15 of 22 All-Conference selections in 2013. Gray also served as a high school coach in Maine and New Hampshire for 13 seasons, where he recorded 122 wins and built 4 championship teams. He coached 38 All-Conference Selections, 4 All-Americans, and the 2008 NEILA Northern New England Player of the Year.

Gray played NCAA DIII lacrosse at Plymouth State University, where he was a midfielder best known for his speed and toughness at the face-off position. As a sophomore, he led the team in ground balls and face-off wins and received NEILA Honorable Mention in 1999. In September of 1999, he transferred to the University of Maine to run NCAA DI track and field. Gray received America East Conference and New England honors as a sprinter and javelin thrower and his personal best include: 10.70 s. 100-meter dash and 189-4 ft. javelin throw. He was presented the 2002 Black Bear Award for his exceptional results in Strength and Conditioning: 30 repetitions on the 225-lb. bench press test and 4.38 s. 40 yd. dash.

Gray, is a Strength & Conditioning Coach at Thomas College and for the Boston Storm (UWLX). He servers on the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Regional Advisory Committee, NEILA All-American Selection Committee, and NAC Student-Athlete Advisorsy Committee. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education from The University of Maine in 2002, and holds a Coaching Certificate from The University of Maine Center for Sport and Coaching and a Sports Performance Coach Certificate from USA Weightlifting.
