WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College men's lacrosse team defeated Northern Vermont University-Johnson 13-9 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game on Saturday afternoon at Bernatchez Field.
The teams traded goals in the first with Jonathan Wilcox (Palmyra, Maine) and Jack Gallagher (Camden, Maine) scoring for the Terriers, while Johnson scored three times to take a 32 lead. Each team scored once in the second, with Wilcox scoring for Thomas, to make it 4-3 at the half.
The Badgers separated themselves in the third, outscoring Thomas 4-2 to go up 8-5. Thomas had goals from Daniel MacWhinnie (Lanesborough, Mass.) and Gallagher in the quarter.
The Thomas offence caught fire in the fourth, erupting for eight goals, including five from Wilcox and one each from MacWhinnie, Gallagher and Matt Craig (Benton, Maine), as Thomas moved on to the 13-9 win.
Damon Westhaver (Damariscotta, Maine) earned his first collegiate win with a four save performance in net for Thomas.
Thomas will visit SUNY Delhi on Saturday, March 30 for a NAC game at 1:00 PM.
