Second Half Surge Lifts Hornets Past Terriers, 9-1

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College men's lacrosse team allowed six second half goals in a 9-1 loss to Lyndon State College in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday night at Smith Field.

The Hornets improve to 5-8 (2-4 NAC) on the year while the Terriers drop down to 2-7 (2-4 NAC).

Lyndon scored three first half goals from three different scorers as Conor Brennan, Shea Jones, and Konner Bick put the Hornets up 3-0 before the break.

In the second half, Lyndon continued to pull away as the outscored Thomas 6-1 to secure the 9-1 victory.  Zachary Carey recorded a hat trick in the second half for the Hornets.

Jones and Carey each finished with three goals in the win while Jones added three assists, four caused turnovers, and seven ground balls.  Brennan tallied a pair of markers on five shots.

Johnathan Wilcox (Palmyra, Maine) scored the lone Thomas goal with 56 seconds remaining to break the shutout.   Colby Blondin (Colchester, Vt.) recorded 11 shots and four ground balls in the effort.

Marcus Bessette made 11 saves in the win for Lyndon while Connor Lamberton (Shohola, Pa.) turned aside 19 shots for Thomas.

The Terriers will host senior day on Monday, April 23 as they take on Maine Maritime.
